Ajahn Liem Thitadhammo |
Luang Pô Liem Ṭhitadhammo is a Buddhist monk in the Thai forest tradition. Born in Si Sa ket province in northeastern Thailand on 5 November 1941. After ordination over the age of twenty, Luang Pô practiced in several village monasteries across the Northeast until joining the Forest Tradition in 1969. He took up training under Luang Pô Chah, who later became one of the country's most famous monks, whose reputation and influence has continued to spread throughout the world to this day. Living under the guidance of Luang Pô Chah at Wat Nong Pah Pong in Ubon Province, Luang Pô Liem soon became one of his closest disciples. After Luang Pô Chah became seriously ill in 1982, he entrusted Luang Pô Liem with the task of leading the monastery. Shortly thereafter, as Luang Pô Chah's illness prevented him from speaking, Wat Nong Pah Pong's Sangha appointed Luang Por Liem to assume the office of Abbot. He fulfills this duty to this day, maintaining the heritage of Luang Pô Chah's Dhamma and the Tradition of monastic training available to monks, nuns and lay disciples.
Luang Pô Liem was twice conferred an honorific monastic title by His Majesty the King of Thailand. He is currently known as Tan Chao Khun Pra Rachabhavanavigrom. For the Sangha at Wat Pah Nanachat Monastery (Luang Pô Chah International Forest Monastery for monk training in the English language) Luang Por Liem is not only a highly respected teacher and guide in monastic life, but is also the Preceptor who has conducted all monastic ordination ceremonies for the past ten years.
