To those who have accompanied us in this project of the Buddhist Monastery in Portugal, not only in the search for a place to install the Sangha (monks), but in both financial and human support, we express our best thanks.
It is common knowledge that the institution of the Theravada Buddhist Monastery, registered under the name
Theravada Buddhism of the Forest – Religious Community, was founded by two monks, Ajahn Vajiro.
English monk (in recent years resident in Amaravati Monastery), and the Portuguese monk Ajahn Dhammiko, (ordered and also resided in Amaravati) and three laymen: Maria Ferreira da Silva, Miguel Guimarães and Miguel Novo. These members do not receive any remuneration and are therefore all volunteers.
Many have asked us how they can support the Monastery.
There are several ways to collaborate. The most immediate is actually the offering of food to the monks.

The Buddha created a system that ensures that the monastic community never separates from the other.
The lay community is always dependent on it for its essential goods. Thus, the
monks are not allowed to purchase food otherwise than through offering
completely voluntary. Monks cannot grow food for themselves or keep food for themselves.
overnight. There is a meal schedule available for those who want it.
Make this kind of offer.

Another way to contribute is to help directly in the Monastery, being possible to stay a few days in this, in order to offer some logistical support to the monks,
They can also enjoy the monastic atmosphere and silence. To this end, it is necessary to
contact the Monastery in advance.

Another way to contribute is through monetary donations for the essential goods and the costs of
Day-to-day life of the monastery. Any help is always very welcome.
