O\u00a0Asalha<\/span>\u00a0Puja<\/span>\u00a0It celebrates the first structured speech the Buddha delivered after his enlightenment and is celebrated on the full moon of July (the full moon of the eighth lunar month of the Indian calendar). This discourse is called \u2018Dhammacakkappavattana sutta\u2019 and it was with it that \u2018the wheel of the Dhamma was set in motion\u2019 (here Dhamma means teaching). It contains the essence of the Buddha\u2019s subsequent teaching, addressing the \u2018Four Noble Truths\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was at the end of this discourse that Venerable Kondanyo understood the essential part of the teaching and that the Buddhist monastic order began.<\/span><\/p>\n

This day is also known as Dhamma Day and is an opportunity to deepen the Buddha's teachings. It also marks the beginning of\u00a0vassal<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0After the usual 7:30 p.m. meditation, there will be a Dhamma lecture by Ajahn Vajiro followed by a Circum-ambulation to the Stupa. <\/span><\/p>\n

10 a.m. \u2013 Request for the 5 precepts and Songs<\/p>\n

10.30 a.m. \u2013 Rice Supply Ceremony<\/p>\n

11 a.m. \u2013 Meal<\/p>\n

12h \u2013 Stupa Circum-ambulation<\/p>\n
